DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Jakob Andreasson (ELI Beamlines)\nApplications in st
ructural dynamics at the ELI Beamlines user facility\nLocated in Dolni Bre
zany\, next to Prague in the Czech Republic\, the ELI Beamlines facility d
evelops state of the art\, high intensity\, lasers for fundamental and app
lied research. As a user facility ELI Beamliens will make high intensity l
asers\, laser driven XUV\, X-ray and particle sources available for the in
ternational user community\nWithin ELI Beamlines the objective of the Depa
rtment of Structural Dynamics is to develop and operate user stations for
research into the structure\, dynamics and function of samples ranging fro
m isolated atoms to complex biological samples and the solid state using u
ltrashort pulses from laser-driven XUV / X-ray sources as well as pulses f
rom the primary infrared lasers. A key advantage of the ELI Beamlines faci
lity is in the possibility to utilize unique combinations of lasers and la
ser driven sources with near-perfect synchronization. This makes it possib
le to carry out demanding pump-probe experiments\, with the particular aim
at understanding the complex dynamics underpinning advanced functions or
fundamental processes. Users will be able to study the mechanisms of physi
cal\, chemical and biological processes at the atomic level and on time sc
ales ranging from femto- to milliseconds\, study and control electronic pr
ocesses and study complex systems in a range of environments. Central expe
rimental technologies include time-resolved diffraction\, scattering and i
maging techniques\, optical (IR to DUV)\, XUV and X-ray spectroscopy. Inst
ruments presently available for user experiments\, or in an advanced commi
ssioning state are:\nA multi purpose end station for AMO science and Coher
ent Diffractive imaging\nUltrafast optical spectroscopy:\n -Femtosecond
Stimulated Raman Scattering and transient optical absorption.\n -Time
resolved spectroscopic ellipsometry.\n -IR spectroscopy\nA station for
 X-ray experiments\, in particular diffraction/scattering and spectroscopy\
