DESCRIPTION:                        \n\n \n\nThis workshop
focusses on the development and applicability of micromagnetic simulations
to scattering data\, in particular diffuse or small angle scattering data
and reflectometry\, collected on magnetic materials.  In some cases\, th
is requires testing and validating simulations against experimental data\,
and in other cases\, developing best practice for measurement strategies
and protocols.  The measurement styles described above often probe simila
r lengthscales\, but the problems and requirements are often very differen
 t.  In this workshop\, we will bring together these aspects to promote in
formation exchange between experts in these areas.\n\nThe workshop is spli
t into two independent parts – this\, the first one\, will focus on sett
ing out the current state-of-the-art in terms of measuring the scattering
function S(q) using the techniques noted above\, and in terms of micromagn
etic theory and how it is applied to small angle neutron scattering and re
flectometry. This will include demonstrations of how these simulations can
be done.\n\nAt the end of this workshop\, attendees should be able to see
if a particular approach will be helpful in resolving their particular sc
ientific question if it involves nanometer to micrometer magnetic structur
es\, and how to make sure they collect sufficient data.\n\nThe workshop wi
ll be held over two afternoons:\n\nDay 1: \n\n\n	\n	Workshop aims and scop
e of the general problem\n	\n	\n	Current methods of extracting data and ge
 tting S(q) – reflectometry\n	\n	\n	Current methods of extracting data an
 d getting S(q) – small angle neutron scattering\n	\n	\n	Confirmed speake
rs: Andreas Michels (University of Luxembourg)\, Dirk Honecker (ISIS Neutr
on and Muon Source)\, Sebastian Muehlbauer (TU Munich)\n	\n\n\n Day 2:\n\
 n\n	\n	Introduction to micromagnetic theory\n	\n	\n	Application of microma
gnetic theory to simulating SANS and reflectometry\, with demonstrations o
r simulations for typical cases described\, along with assessments for cur
rent limitations.\n	\n	\n	Confirmed speakers: Dmitry Berkov (General Numer
ics)\, Sergei Erokhin (General Numerics) and Joseph Paddison (Oak Ridge
National Laboratory)\n	\n\n\nThe follow up workshop will be held over the
8th and 9th of April\, and will be focused on how to improve the state-of-
 the-art.\n\nDay 3:  (Part 2 on April 8-9)\n\n\n	\n	Introduction and demon
stration of MM simulation software packages\, including cross-checks.\n	\n
\n\n\n	\n	Discussion panel with software package representatives about imp
lementing calculations into packages\, with opinions on feasibility\, nece
 ssary approaches\, and further details\n	\n	\n	Confirmed speakers: Artur G
lavic (Paul Scherrer Institut)\, Jonathan Leliaert (Ghent University)\n	\n
 \n\nDay 4: (Part 2 on April 8-9)\n\n\n	\n	Round-table discussion with the
aim of setting out finite tasks along with a plan for development.\n	\n\n\
