DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis workshop focusses on the development and applicabilit
y of micromagnetic simulations to scattering data\, in particular diffuse
or small angle scattering data and reflectometry\, collected on magnetic m
aterials. In some cases\, this requires testing and validating simulations
against experimental data\, and in other cases\, developing best practice
for measurement strategies and protocols. The measurement styles describe
d above often probe similar lengthscales\, but the problems and requiremen
ts are often very different. In this workshop\, we will bring together the
se aspects to promote information exchange between experts in these areas.
\n\nThe workshop is split into two independent parts – the first one foc
ussed on setting out the current state-of-the-art in terms of measuring th
e scattering function S(q) using the techniques noted above\, and in terms
of micromagnetic theory and how it is applied to small angle neutron scat
tering and reflectometry.\n\nPart II will explore the extent and limits of
current approaches for combining scattering data with simulation results\
, and will provide a forum for setting out future areas of interest to pus
h these methods forward.\n\nThe workshop will be held over two afternoons:
 \n\nDay 3: (Part 2 on April 8-9)\n\n\n	Introduction and demonstration of M
 M simulation software packages\, including cross-checks.\n\n\n\n	Discussio
n panel with software package representatives about implementing calculati
ons into packages\, with opinions on feasibility\, necessary approaches\,
and further details\n	Confirmed speakers: Artur Glavic (Paul Scherrer Inst
itut)\, Jonathan Leliaert (Ghent University)\n\n\nDay 4: (Part 2 on April
8-9)\n\n\n	Round-table discussion with the aim of setting out finite tasks
along with a plan for development.\n\n\nWhere: Online\, a zoom link will
be provided just before the event\nWhen: April 8-9\, 2-5pm CET every day\n
Registration deadline: April 5\n\nUPDATED SCHEDULE\n\nDAY 1\, Thursday Apr
 il 8\n\n14:00 – Introduction\n14:05 Jonathan Leliaert (incl. break)\n15:
00 Artur Glavic (incl. break)\n16:00 Discussion panel (incl. breakout room
s for 30 minutes depending a little bit on the number of participants)\n\n
DAY 2\, Friday April 9\n\n14:00 – Introduction\n14:05 Dmitry Berkov (inc
 l. break)\n15:00 Round-table discussion\n\nThe round-table discussions wil
l start with small groups who will discuss current problems from both the
simulation side and the requirements of experimental/scientific questions.
These groups will be lead by Jonathan Leliaert and Dmitry Berkov on the
simulation side\, and Artur Glavic and Andreas Michels on the experimenta
l question side.  The groups will then report back on the issues that hav
e come up\, and there will then be a general discussion with the aim of de
veloping a roadmap for future possible actions.\n\nhttps://lindico453.srv.
