DESCRIPTION:\n\nKick-off SAGA – Preparing for a GISANS instrument at E
 SS – A Swedish Initiative \n\nWhen: Friday 14 of January 2022\nWhere: V
irtual and at LINXS\nRegistration deadline: January 11\, 2022\n\nThe unde
rstanding of interfacial properties of materials\, as well as interfacial
processes in terms of structural\, morphological  and compositional chan
ges\, is of crucial importance in many scientific fields that include chem
 istry\, physics\, biology and engineering. A wide consortium\, building
on the strength in surface and interface  science in Sweden\, has formed
to push for a Swedish led project to design and construct such an instrum
ent at  ESS. In this project we will develop a conceptual and technical d
esign for the world leading neutron surface  scattering beamline and benc
hmark it against existing instruments. The design of the instrument is dir
ectly  motivated by the science and business case developed in coordinati
on with the international community and will take full advantage of the b
rilliance of ESS. The output of the project will be a competitive instrume
nt project  proposal for the next ESS call and a detailed plan for the im
plementation of such a leading instrument. Particular  emphasis will be d
edicated to build competence in the development of neutron instrumentation
in Sweden to  enable strong engagement in the ESS instrument suite. Thi
s is the kick-off of a national Swedish project with international collabo
ration. The Swedish research council granted the funding for the project i
n November 2021.\n\nJoint session with SXNS \n\n11.45-12.15 Peter Müller
-Buschbaum (Technische Universität München\, Germany) - Nanostructured
polymer films for energy harvesting applications studied with GISANS\, GIS

la University\, Sweden) - Near Surface Neutron Scattering – Studying Bur
ied Structured Interfaces with Attached Colloidal Particles\, Lipids and P
