DESCRIPTION:What: LINXS Amyloid workshop - Heart\, Brain and Mind\nWhen: M
arch 3-4\, 2022\nWhere: Hybrid workshop with either digital or on-site par
 ticipation\nRegistration deadline: February 15\, 2022\n\nAIMS \n\nAmyloid
diseases are caused by the aggregation of proteins and their accumulation
as amyloid fibrils in cells and tissues. Much research is focused on under
standing the basic biology of amyloidosis and how it relates to disease et
iology. Integrative structural biology is an integral part in order to ach
ieve this but also very challenging. The workshop will therefore address s
ynergy and conflict of technology (reduction) for medical complexity (inte
gration)\n\nWHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?\n\nThe workshop wishes to bring to tog
ether basic researchers and clinicians to discuss existing and novel exper
imental approaches to determine amyloid structures and integrating the res
ults to explain medical problem. The participants may have specific knowle
dge in methodology that relates to the different topics\, or may have a sp
ecific biological or medical research questions that can be addressed by s
tructure analysis methods.\n\nOpen to young/early career researchers as we
ll as more senior.\n\nTOPICS:\n\n1.     Historical overview of clinics
(amyloids)\n2.      Historical overview of therapeutics\, stabilizat
ion story? interference of aggregation (how our best molecular knowledge u
sed?)\, side effects to consider?\n3.     Translational aspects of mis
folding dynamics to in vivo (most critical points of in vitro to in vivo)\
n4.     How to cover the gap between basic research and clinics?\n5.
How to cover gap with industry?\n\nCONFIRMED SPEAKERS\n\nSheena Rad
ford - University of Leeds\, UK\n\nLaura Obici - IRCCS Fondazione Policlin
 ico San Matteo\, Italy\n\nJulian Gillmore - Royal Free Hospital London\, U
 K\n\nPer Westermark - Uppsala University\, Sweden\n\nJens Lagersted - Novo
